Save the Date: World Mental Health Day 2019

Mark your calendars for World Mental Health Day, celebrated annually around the globe on 10 October 2019. To celebrate this occasion in Europe, Mental Health Europe will host and get involved in a number of events, bringing together policy makers, stakeholders, members and allies, to raise awareness about the issue and to discuss key topics related to mental health.


We invite you to save the date for the following events:



 “The future of work and mental health – Ensuring quality employment in an ever-changing context” capacity-building seminar 

 Location: Brussels, venue: TBC


On the eve of the World Mental Health Day, the European Alliance for Mental Health – Employment & Work is organising the seminar “The future of work and mental health – Ensuring quality employment in an ever-changing context”.


The seminar will aim to discuss how changes in the world of work impact mental health and well-being and what can be done to adequately address these changes. The event will be relevant for EU and (sub-)national policy-makers, businesses, academia, social partners, civil society and advocacy organisations. The seminar will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange and learn from each other.

“BE RIGHT” Final project event  

Location: Brussels, venue: TBC


In the morning of the 10th October, the BE RIGHT consortium, which includes four members of MHE, will organise its end-of-project event to discuss findings and outcomes. In the course of the project, BE RIGHT developed a tailor-made training course in human rights applied to care settings. The event will be of particular interest for professionals of health and social services who work with people experiencing mental ill-health. MHE Board meeting

MHE’s Board will meet in the morning of 10 October. More information and registration details will follow soon, however please note that this meeting is open to MHE Board members only.



World Mental Health Day 2019 – Event in the European Parliament

Location: Brussels, venue: European Parliament


On 10 October 2019, MHE wants to bring together policy makers, users and key stakeholders with an interest in suicide prevention which is be the topic of this year’s World Mental Health day. This event will:

  • explore the current situation in relation to the suicide in Europe;
  • identify effective strategies of suicide prevention and share good practices;
  • hear personal stories and share the needs of users of mental health services;
  • come forward with recommendations to improve the situation and approach to suicide prevention;
  • stimulate more EU action on prevention.

The event will be held at the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels and will be hosted by the members of the Coalition for Mental Health and Wellbeing run by Mental Health Europe. The invited speakers include members of the European Parliament, representatives of the European Commission, WHO, OECD as well as MHE membership. A more detailed programme will be available shortly. Please note that places to attend the above events are limited. MHE has a small budget to reimburse the participation of several MHE members that are not based in Brussels.


Registration must go through the MHE Office and reimbursement will be provided for one representative per selected member organisation.
