ICD 10 Revision

One of the main points of focus for the BBP Taskforce is the forthcoming revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD 10) which will lay the ground work for ICD-11, due to be adopted at the World Health Assembly in 2018. As with the DSM-V the persons most deeply affected by diagnostics resulting from such classification tools, are those who use mental health services.

The Taskforce has been attempting to raise the concerns regarding the DSM-5 process with the World Health Organisation (the WHO) “the international organization mandated to prepare the ICD-10 Revision - to ensure that these concerns are taken into account and that the process involves people with lived experience of mental health problems as equal partners in its construction.

The Taskforce has just published  its Position Paper on the ICD-10 Revision. You can also find here the Call for Action ICD 10  which is a shorter version of the paper.
