Capacity-building seminar 2011
In the 2011 capacity building seminar, MHE addressed three topics which constitute the core of advocacy in the field of mental health: deinstitutionalization, the use of EU Structural Funds and the experiences of the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD).
The process of deinstitutionalization has recently been reactivated in many European countries. With many countries in Europe ratifying the UN CRPD, along with the European Union itself, we have an immense opportunity to enforce deinstitutionalization in Europe. Recent examples also show us how finances provided by the European Union (Structural Funds) can support this process. We call you all to join us to learn more about these topics.
Our was a great opportunity to learn for those:
- who are willing to work for deinstitutionalization and the improvement of community based services;
- who are interested in the use of EU-funds especially in regard to developing community based services;
- who are willing to learn about the UN CRPD and its implementation in the field of mental health.
Participants at this seminar included:
- Mental Health Europe members;
- Members of the European Network of (ex-)Users and Survivors of Psychiatry (ENUSP).
