II. Aims and Objectives


  • Article 4

    The aim of Mental Health Europe - Santé Mentale Europe, shall be to promote mental health, to prevent mental illness and to protect and advance the interests of all people with mental health problems, persons at risk, and their relatives and families, as expressed by themselves.

    The association shall have no profit-making aims.

  • Article 5

    The general purposes of Mental Health Europe - Santé Mentale Europe are :

    1. to further the objectives of the World Federation for Mental Health, among all nations the highest level of mental health, in its broadest biological, social, psychological, educational and clinical aspects ;
    2. to work with all relevant agencies of the European Union, and other international agencies in Europe in so far as they relate to mental health ;
    3. to promote communication and understanding through meetings, conferences, exchanges and in other ways, and to further the establishment of better human relations by all means possible ;
    4. to co-ordinate mental health activities within the European Union and other countries in Europe, on behalf of and in co-operation with people with mental health problems ;
    5. to promote mental health care in Europe by protecting the rights of people with mental health problems, and by supporting people who use the mental health services to have a voice in their planning and management ;
    6. to undertake appropriate action to improve mental health in Europe.
    7. to undertake studies, collect and analyse data, on matters including the social, educational, legal and professional aspects of mental health ;
    8. to provide information and advisory services to organisations working on behalf of people with mental health problems in Europe ;
    9. to publish a Newsletter, Information Bulletins, Reports and other relevant documents ;
    10. to promote an exchange of information and experience between organisations working in the field of mental health in Europe
    11. to encourage the formation of national co-ordinating mental health groups in European countries
    12. to participate in European Union and other international meetings and conferences on mental health
    13. to raise funds to support the activities of Mental Health Europe - Santé Mentale Europe
    14. to undertake such additional activities as shall further the objectives of Mental Health Europe - Santé Mentale Europe.
